Our Story

Long before there was a Birch Island Collective, there was Birch Island Lake.

It’s a small lake in Northern Wisconsin, and my family had a cabin there. It’s where I first fell in love with nature, and it holds so many of my best memories: the sound of waves lapping the shore, the wind moving through the leaves, the smell of autumn and fresh pine in the air.

My favorite part was always the arrival. The dirt road, the crunch of gravel under the tires, and then the log cabin coming into view, framed by towering trees. That feeling of excitement and ease washing over me is something I still carry with me.

Once we were there, it was the quiet I loved most. Long, unhurried moments spent sitting outside with family and friends, not needing to say much or be anywhere else.

That feeling of peace has stayed with me, and it’s the heart of this brand. When I choose a piece for the collection, I’m asking whether it carries some of that calm: whether it feels natural, comfortable, and made to be lived in. It’s why we favor natural and sustainable fibers, and why the colors, textures, and shapes we gravitate toward echo the woods and water I grew up loving.

Birch Island Collective is my way of bringing that place with me, and sharing a little of it with you. Whether you’re wrapped in a linen layer on a slow morning or filling your home with pieces that feel like they belong to the land, I hope you feel what I felt as that cabin came into view: grounded, at ease, and close to something beautiful.

Thank you for being here.
